Description
I would like to present this rare preloved book in very good condition that is devoted to the subject of crafting orchid flowers out of silk and other fabrics.
The book is full of stunning colour photos of flower arrangements with orchids and other flowers to give you some ideas of how to use your handmade silk blooms. It also contains instructions, full size patterns and pictures for 20 different orchids, including such favourites as phalaenopsis, dendrobium, cymbidium, miltonia and lady’s slipper orchids.
All the orchids are hand painted and made to look very realistic but you can always make them in white for a wedding, or in fact any other colour you wish.
To be able to make use of this book you must have some experience in silk flower making using a flower iron. Ideally you should be acquainted with the Japanese techniques as well.
The shaping of petals and leaves is given using schemes as well as photos. Being able to read and understand Japanese can be very useful here, but even without the knowledge of the language a lot can be understood, adapted and used when creating your own flowers. Alternatively, you can always refer to a professional to have the instructions translated for you if need be.
I do not speak Japanese myself but the fact that I have studied Japanese techniques of silk flower making with several tutors does help immensely. That is why I will probably not recommend this book to a complete beginner as it will not be of much use.
All the flowers are created using a set of heated millinery tools for shaping petals and leaves. Most templates given in the book (as each orchid has its own full sized template) can be adapted and used for making leather flowers too.
