Undoubtedly fabric poppies have always been popular. Especially fire engine red ones, which resemble the simple wild poppies grown without any cultivation in a natural setting. As we all know the red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem “In Flanders Fields”. To cater for all tastes I have several Remembrance poppies in my portfolio ranging from satin to velvet ones, with and without foliage, with just 4 petals or a fuller version with 14. Here is one of the most popular designs:

But those of us who are into gardening surely know oriental poppies with their large blooms and fluffy leaves.
My newest poppy creation was inspired by these impressive oriental poppies.
 An amazingly full and at the same time light, almost transparent large poppy flower can be turned into an impressive headpiece to complete a wedding or romantic look, a corsage or a hat decoration.

In November I was talking about new poppy designs which I would like to add to my oh-so-popular existing line. One of the ideas was to create a poppy using luxurious velvet fabric. Finally last weekend I found the time for this experiment.
Please welcome the wild poppy made of cotton velvet for petals and cotton melton for leaves and stems.

As always all the leaves and in this case petals are lined with silk organza. The poppy brooch is available at my Etsy shop.
I hope you will like the new poppy design as you do the previous ones. Meanwhile I shall think about implementing my other ideas in soft velvet and luxurious pure silks.

I have been meaning to do that for quite some time and finally today I am happy to share with you my latest tutorial!

With Remembrance Day just round the corner the timing seems just right. But red poppy flower is not only for Poppy day. This stylish accessory is ideal for complementing an outfit or making a unique gift for your loved ones.

Honestly I do not know anybody who would not like poppies. But the real flower seems to be so short-lived that there is no other option left really
