Butterflies for a wedding hairdo

Recently I accepted a custom order for a set of 5 silk butterflies to decorate a bridal hairdo.

The bride-to-be has taken her inspiration from this Pinterest photo and wanted a similar hair style. .

As her dress is black she opted for bright white butterflies with pearl bodies and no antennae. I must admit these were the first butterflies I have ever created without the antennae, but I can understand why: 5 butterflies will need a lot of space to land!

Today the butterflies have been finished and now they are all ready for their flight across the pond to the faraway city of LA.

A set of bridal butterflies

As with all my butterflies these ones have been created from scratch using finest materials and beads. The butterflies are customisable in terms of shape, size, colour etc so if you are having a butterfly theme to your wedding or a child’s birthday party I will be more than happy to help you choose the right ones for your occasion.

Butterfly decor

Hand painted pure silk butterflies

I know everybody’s thoughts are about spring and summer these days especially with wall-to-wall sunshine outside. But some of us do like to plan ahead. So instead of thinking about Easter preparations one of my customers is busy planning her next Christmas tree design! Surfing the Internet she came across a picture of a tree all covered with butterflies and got so inspired that wanted the same. Unusual as it is, I received this order for 10 different sample butterflies a couple of weeks ago. Here are the butterflies, which are going to decorate a fir tree next Christmas.

Designer butterflies

Outside Christmas celebrations these lovely creatures will be used as hair clips for my customer’s young daughter.

Velvet Butterflies

I personally see them as a sweet touch to a wedding theme. And how would you use such butterflies? Any fresh ideas?

Double silk organza butterflies

NEW! Double organza wedding butterflies

Although lace butterflies (cream and coloured) have proven successful, today I wanted to introduce their cousins which are for some reason being a bit neglected. I am talking about double organza butterflies. In the picture you can see the option with a silver thread between the layers of organza. However I also have a copper thread version of this fabric. Here the butterflies are made in white as a wedding decor but organza being pure silk can of course be coloured in any necessary colour to match a chosen wedding theme. Which, to my mind, is a great advantage.
But even in pure white this set of a brooch and a hair clip looks very elegant and attractive. I have not forgotten to use ostrich feathers and Japanese seed beads as usual ☺
